STEP at Eastern Market’s Market Day

Eastern 7(STEP) Services To Enhance Potential is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that provides support and services to over 1,300 individuals with disabilities and other mental health needs in the Wayne County area. Individuals with barriers are enabled to reach their best potential and life goals through self-employment, supported employment, volunteer opportunities, and a variety of programs and training.
Consumers of STEP services- Tydesa and Torre have been partaking in the Market Day event held at Eastern Market, downtown Detroit. Every Tuesday from 9AM-2PM, they can be found at the STEP table selling various packaged items. All profits made from the sales directly benefit Tydesa and Torre. Tydesa and Torre’s favorite part about Eastern Market’s Market Day is interacting with the customers. Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton died Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself at a car dealership outside of Detroit, reports ESPN.

Police say Tipton, 26, dropped a duffel bag he was carrying, which set off a gun inside. He was rushed to St. John Hospital in Detroit, where he later died.
